2022 ACE OF TRUMPS GRENACHE

Our bush vine Grenache is contour planted on a south facing slope overlooking the ocean in the Seaview sub region of McLaren Vale. The vines are selectively hand pruned, shoot thinned and hand harvested. A stylish, soft and generous wine, yet subtle with powerful flavours.

Fresh raspberry and dark plum fruit aromas mingle with sweet spice and delicate vanilla and cedar aromas. A lovely medium bodied wine where the ripe red fruit flavours impress on the mid palate and add “fruit sweetness” that lingers. The acid and subtle tannins play their role in adding velvety texture and a refreshing finish. Before release this wine is matured in French oak puncheons for 10 months (30% new) and then a period in bottle. Cellar for 5-8 years.

Ace of Trumps is a tribute to my family’s racehorse, which won the Adelaide cup in 1874.
