Ace of Trumps, Seaview, McLaren Vale
Our Ace of Trumps vineyard was planted in 2001 after extensive development, planning and site preparations, including detailed soil mapping to allow optimal varietal and clone selection, and vineyard layout. Nine hectares are planted with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, in Seaview, a sub-region of McLaren Vale. The vineyard is mostly south-facing, which helps to keep the microclimate relatively mild in summer and the fruit and vines protected from summer’s hot northerly winds. The vineyard is in outstanding condition, with remarkable uniformity across the property resulting in consistent low yields of icon quality fruit.
Ace of Trumps is a tribute to the Gilbert family racehorse that won the Adelaide Cup in 1874. Just like it’s namesake, this Seaview subregion vineyard is a real winner when it comes to McLaren Vale reds.
