James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2018
We are very honoured and excited to be recognized by Australia’s pre-eminent wine critic James Halliday AM as a five star winery again this year. 2016 ANNA’S SAUVIGNON BLANC
“Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild-yeast fermented in used French barriques with partial mlf. The vinification has worked to perfection, giving texture, structure and complexity to a very intense Sauvignon.“

2016 SOPHIE’S HILL PINOT GRIGIO
“Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, fermented in used French barriques, some mlf. Karawatta suggests this is the leaner style of Italian grigio. I don’t agree. It’s in a high quality gris style with intense lime and nashi pear flavours and a cleansing finish, the only common aspect of good grigio.”

2016 ANTH’S GARDEN CHARDONNAY
“There’s a layer of flavour largely oak and lees derived complementing the core of good fruit. It feels full-bodied, rich and flavoursome with butterscotch, creamed honey encasing stone fruit and dried figs yet there’s a linearity, too, thanks to its pulsating high acidity.”

2015 DAIRY BLOCK SHIRAZ
“The colour is deep crimson-purple, and this isn’t a rose. Matured for 18 months in French barriques, it is an imposing cool-grown shiraz, its dark fruits intertwined with potpourri spices, the palate velvety and succulent.”

2014 SPARTACUS CABERNET, MALBEC, SHIRAZ
“Just like Spartacus, this is fearless with its bold, big flavours. Plenty of concentrated yet bright fruit, chocolate, ferrous and salt-bush characters, and there’s a gloss, a slickness to the texture. Full-bodied and ripe powerful tannins makes you sit up and take notice. One for the gladiator in your life.”
