“Karrawatta’s Dairy Block Shiraz has been a star performer in recent years. This is an interesting release. Aspects of it are all asphalt and tar, others are meaty, peppery, infused with cloves. It feels both over-cooked and savoury at once; my first impression was that it’s a ‘miss’ but the longer I looked at it the more complex and appealing it seemed. It’s one of those wines. Both warm and mouth-watering, even if that seems like a contradiction in terms. The wine’s peppery notes and overall character though count for alot indeed. I was pretty keen to take this to dinner with me once the tasting session was finished, always a positive sign.”
